Pure cycling fun: a voyage of discovery on two wheels
Cycling enthusiasts like me will find everything their hearts desire in South Tyrol! The Seehotel Sparer and the Montiggler Forest are the perfect base camp for a cycling vacation in the heart of South Tyrol. Here, I can enjoy a diverse network of flat cycle paths, gentle forest roads, and winding single trails. And let’s not forget the Via Claudia Augusta cycle path, which takes me right across the Adige Valley! Between hilly vineyards and the wild and romantic Mendel ridge, both leisure cyclists and competitive cyclists will find a tour to suit every requirement and every level of difficulty.
My bike day at the Seehotel Sparer starts after a healthy and energy-packed breakfast with a view of the lake. Then it’s off to the garage, where my bike (whether I brought it myself or had it delivered to the hotel from the local e-bike rental) is already waiting for me. After a short tour briefing with bike guide Patrick Pramstrahler and a check of the bike (minor repairs are carried out directly in-house), we’re ready to go!
Road cyclists experience the ultimate biking fun on the Mendel, our “local mountain.” With breathtaking views and challenging routes, the Mendel is a true paradise for fast bikers. Start your ride directly from the Seehotel Sparer and discover the captivating mix of adrenaline-fueled descents and challenging climbs.
Other worthwhile destinations for road cyclists are:
- Lake Garda, 97 kilometers from the Seehotel Sparer
- The Stelvio Pass in western South Tyrol, 105 kilometers from the Seehotel Sparer
- The Dolomites, 95 kilometers from Seehotel Sparer
Mountain bike enthusiasts, on the other hand, can look forward to countless trails in the surrounding area. Seehotel Sparer is the perfect starting point for exciting adventures on two wheels. From challenging routes to flowing descents, the variety of trails is sure to get your pulse racing.
For those who prefer longer tours, the cycle paths from Brenner to Trento and from Reschen to Innichen offer a fantastic opportunity to discover the region by bike. These routes not only connect picturesque places, but also provide a unique insight into the diversity of the South Tyrolean landscape.
Why my lakeside hotel is also a bike hotel:
- Perfect starting point for bike tours of all kinds
- E-bike rental on site, with delivery to the hotel (for a fee)
- Minor bike repairs are carried out directly in-house
- Bike repair shop for larger repairs in the village
